A Mead Experience: Time, Craft, and Intention

This program is designed to give you access to a different side of mead. Not the sweet, immediate styles often associated with festivals, and not the overly expressive competition-driven profiles—but something quieter, more deliberate, and more refined.

These are meads crafted with intention and restraint by a meadmaker with over 20 years of experience. They are meant to be enjoyed—and thought about.

There is a long history behind mead, much of it centered around celebration and excess. But there is another side to it. A quieter one.

The kind not meant for the height of the feast, but for what comes after—when the noise fades, the fire burns low, and conversation turns more reflective. These are not meads for distraction. They are meant to be shared among those who take their time, who notice more, and who do not feel the need to fill every silence.

What This Is

Once each year, we open a small group to take part in a guided mead experience.

Members receive four distinct meads over the course of the program, each crafted to express a different aspect of the craft:

  • a structured, wine-like expression built on balance and precision

  • a clean, refined mead designed for ease and clarity

  • a fruit-driven release with depth and character

  • a final, more contemplative mead built for structure, time, and evolution

Each one is created with a specific purpose. Each one is meant to stand on its own.

How the Experience Unfolds

This is not a single delivery—it is a process that unfolds over time.

Year One – Creation

As the meads are developed, members receive periodic updates throughout the year. These are not technical reports, but thoughtful glimpses into the process:

  • what decisions are being made

  • how the meads are evolving

  • and what is shaping their final direction

You experience the work as it happens—not simply the finished result.

Year Two – Release

In the following year, each mead is released quarterly. With each shipment, members receive:

  • the finished bottles

  • a short, intentional write-up describing that specific mead

  • and, when applicable, continued updates on the remaining meads still in development

Each release is meant to be experienced in its own time. Taken together, they form a complete picture—one that becomes clearer as you move through it.

What Makes This Different

This program is built on a simple principle: not everything should be made to impress immediately. Some things are meant to reveal themselves more slowly. There are no shortcuts in production, no excess in design, and no attempt to make every mead appeal to everyone. Instead, the focus is on:

  • balance

  • structure

  • and the quiet details that emerge over time

The result is not simply a collection of bottles, but a progression—one that rewards attention and becomes more meaningful the longer you stay with it.

Membership

  • Limited to a small group each year

  • 12 bottles total (3 bottles per release)

  • $420 + applicable tax

  • Shipping included

Members are always welcome to pick up their allocations at the winery. Those who do will be welcomed with a tasting—and, when the moment feels right, the opportunity to experience something not otherwise available.

A Final Note

This is meant to be much more than a purchase of bottles of mead. It is an opportunity to experience the intent, the creation, and the story behind each release—along with the influence of time, craft, the nuances of the land, and, at times, a bit of luck.

If this program resonates with you—or someone you would like to share it with—you will likely want to add your name to the interest list. Enrollment is open until 1 Oct 2026 or until we have reached our small group limit, whichever occurs first.
